For 50 years, winning The Ocean Race has been an obsession for the best sailors in the world: from the pioneers of the first edition of the Whitbread Round the World Race, who set off from Portsmouth on the 8th of Septmber 1973, to the professional sailors who raced their foiling IMOCAs around the world earlier this year. Today the Race remains one of the greatest sporting challenges in the world.
