EAST HALL’S MIRACLE SEASON CONTINUES The East Hall Vikings continued one of the most improbable runs in Georgia high school basketball with a 73–49 victory over the Jefferson Dragons in the GHSA Class 3A Sweet 16 at Seth Vining Gym. After starting the season 2–13, the sixth-seeded Vikings have surged through the postseason and are now headed to the Elite Eight for the first time since 2015. East Hall used a three-point barrage from Cooper Barton and relentless defensive pressure to pull away in the second half, delivering one of their most complete performances of the season. Head coach Joe Dix praised his team’s resilience during the historic turnaround. “These guys just won’t quit. If we just keep working, something good will happen for us. EAST HALL ADVANCES TO THE REGION CHAMPIONSHIP The East Hall Vikings basketball punched their ticket to the Region 8-3A championship with a hard-fought 82–75 victory over the Cherokee Bluff Bears basketball in the semifinals in Jefferson Georgia. East Hall came out firing, jumping to a 10–0 start and building a 20-point lead in the first half. But Cherokee Bluff battled back with multiple second-half runs to keep the pressure on. Despite the comeback attempts, the Vikings held their composure late to secure the win and advance to the Region 8-3A title game. After starting the season 2–13, head coach Joe Dix says the early struggles helped prepare the team for high-pressure moments. “Our group thread is ‘never quit’ because that’s who they are,” Dix said. “We’ve played so many good teams that these moments don’t really scare us.” Now East Hall is playing its best basketball at the right time as the postseason continues.
